beabadoobee Shares '90s-Leaning Second 'Pylon' Single, 'Switchblade'

beabadoobee (Beatrice Laus) shared “Switchblade” this week, the second single from her forthcoming album Pylon, due September 18 on Dirty Hit and Interscope. Where lead single “Sun Has Set” leaned dreamy, “Switchblade” digs into fuzzed-out, ’90s alt-rock and emo-grunge territory, all noise and melody wound tight around a hook about self-defense and emotional uncertainty.

“Pylon is about accepting that negative feelings are going to come back, accepting the insecurity and feeling confused,” Laus said of the record. “It’s all a necessary part of growing and knowing yourself better.” That kind of candor has been a throughline since Beatopia, and two singles in, Pylon is shaping up as her most unguarded record yet — no features this time, just Laus working out her own noise.
