DIIV Announce A. G. Cook-Produced Album 'ZIRP!,' Tease It With a Telemarketer Hotline

DIIV are back with a follow-up to Frog In Boiling Water, and they picked an unusually loud way to announce a fourth album that’s presumably still pretty hushed and reverb-heavy underneath it all. ZIRP! is out October 30 on Fantasy Records, produced by A. G. Cook — a pairing that on paper sounds like it could tug the band’s shoegaze haze toward something brighter and stranger, and given Cook’s track record, probably will.

The rollout is the real story so far. There’s a presave page at diiv.net/zirp/, there are mailed business cards printed with QR codes, and there’s a phone line — +1 229-798-9477 — that plays a telemarketer-style pitch describing ZIRP! as “the future of alternative multimedia entertainment.” It’s a lot of infrastructure for an album announcement, and exactly the kind of bit that works better the less it explains itself.

Cook, for his part, is having a packed 2026: production credits on Charli XCX’s Music, Fashion, Film and on The Moment soundtrack, plus recent work — including his Thy Slaughter side project — that’s leaned noticeably into grungier, more guitar-forward textures. That’s a good sign for anyone hoping DIIV’s next record still sounds like DIIV once the marketing gimmicks are out of its system.
