flowerovlove Announces Debut Album 'MINI SKIRT WARRIOR,' Shares 'KISS KISS KISS'

flowerovlove has announced her debut album, MINI SKIRT WARRIOR, arriving August 28 via Capitol Records — and she’s marked the occasion with a new single, “KISS KISS KISS,” co-written with Skyler Stonestreet and Pom Pom.

The title is doing a lot of work on purpose. flowerovlove has described the record as being named for the transformative power of clothing during the passage from girlhood into womanhood, and the songs reportedly follow that thread through a string of coming-of-age firsts. “A lot of this album is based on first times,” she said of the project, “first times falling in love, first times getting to know yourself, first times falling out of love, first times realizing girlhood is so important.” It’s the kind of plainly stated thesis that tracks with an artist who’s spent the last few years building a fanbase on songs — “Casual Lady,” “American Wedding,” “In My Victoria’s Secret” — that read like diary entries set to a beat.

“KISS KISS KISS” arrives with a one-take music video featuring a cameo from 24kGoldn, and it’s the clearest signal yet of what the album’s got in store: hooky, unguarded, a little breathless. flowerovlove is also a member of DIY Magazine’s Class of 2023, a cohort that’s tracked her rise from singles artist to full-album statement, and she’ll spend September through November opening an extensive UK and European run for Niall Horan — 25-plus dates across Birmingham, London, Berlin, Paris, and Dublin — which should make for a fitting way to introduce the record to rooms that don’t know it yet.
