Bristol quartet Grandmas House dropped “Blue Oblivion” this week, the third single from their debut full-length, Baby You’re A Winner, due August 21 on Brace Yourself Records. The 12-track album — rounded out by cuts like “DOG,” “The Table,” “Hurricane,” and “Next Big Hit (Choo Choo)” — was first teased back in May, and this latest single pushes further into the boundary-less territory the band says they were chasing.

“Writing ‘Blue Oblivion’ was a pivotal moment for us as a band as it made us realise that we didn’t have to write music within any boundaries,” the band said of the track.

Alongside the single, Grandmas House laid out a genuinely packed release-week plan: a string of UK record store instores (Banquet Records Kingston, Vinilo Southampton, Truck Records Oxford, The Jacaranda Liverpool, Vinyl Whistle Leeds, and Rough Trade Bristol, all August 21–27), followed by a proper headline run through London’s Oslo, Bristol’s Thekla, Glasgow’s Nice n’ Sleazy, Manchester’s SOUP, and Nottingham’s The Bodega this autumn. A debut album is a big enough swing on its own — pairing it with six instores and a five-city tour is the kind of full-court press that suggests a band who know exactly what they’ve made.
