Maria Usbeck Announces New EP 'Canciones De Amor,' Shares Sparkling Single 'Luz'
Maria Usbeck has announced Canciones De Amor, a new EP due September 18 via Cascine, and shared its opening track, “Luz.” Where her 2025 album Naturaleza leaned into hushed, nature-minded synth-pop, “Luz” widens the palette — mellow, floaty jazz tones drifting into lush, expensive-sounding synth work, the kind of arrangement that sounds simple until you notice how many small decisions are propping it up.
The EP was recorded with a cast that includes Wild Nothing’s Jack Tatum, whose fingerprints show up in the track’s warm, slightly hazy low end. It’s a short project by design — a set of love songs, per the title, arriving a little over a year after Usbeck’s first new material in six years reminded everyone she’d never really left.
“Luz” is streaming now. Canciones De Amor is out September 18 via Cascine.
