The Big Moon Share Buoyant New 'Forever' Preview 'Fun'

The Big Moon have never needed much of an excuse to sound thrilled to be a band, and “Fun” doesn’t pretend otherwise — it’s the second preview of Forever, the London quartet’s fourth album, following lead single “Gravity” out earlier this cycle. Where some bands treat joy as a lesser mode to mine, The Big Moon lean straight into it, and the new track lands exactly where its title promises.

Frontwoman Juliette Jackson addressed that head-on in the announcement: “I think there’s this idea that for art to be deep it has to be SERIOUS and DARK, but joy and humour is just as integral to being a human being.” It’s a small statement of purpose, but it tracks — this is a band whose entire discography has argued that hooks and heart aren’t mutually exclusive with substance.

Forever arrives October 30 via Fiction Records, and The Big Moon will take it on the road across the UK this November, with dates lined up at Birmingham’s O2 Institute2 (Nov 18), Bristol Trinity (Nov 22), Manchester’s O2 Ritz (Nov 25), Project House in Leeds (Nov 26), and a closing night at O2 Academy Brixton in London (Nov 27). Two singles in, this one’s shaping up to be exactly the kind of record OGM shows up for.
