Glasgow five-piece Walt Disco announced their third studio album this week — a self-titled record, walt disco, due October 2 on EMI North — alongside a new single, “Lies.” It follows 2022’s Unlearning and 2024’s The Warping, and continues a run that’s made the band one of Scottish glam-pop’s most reliably theatrical exports.

Per DIY, the new record leans into gender dysphoria, self-doubt, and the grind of the music industry, with vocalist Jocelyn Si’s struggles with self-worth running through both the single and the LP as a whole. The band has a packed run of dates to go with it: Humber Street Sesh in Hull on August 1, Sounds Of Solidarity at Glasgow’s The Art School on September 5, and a pair of October 3 shows — DIY Alive at London’s EartH and Twisterella Festival in Middlesbrough — timed right around release week.

Third albums are where bands either calcify or find a new gear. Judging by the themes Walt Disco are reaching for here, they’re aiming squarely for the latter.
